A work-free vacation IS possible!

by | Balance for Educators

Are you ready for this winter vacation? Will you find time that’s just for you?

Of course, it’s inevitable that we will eventually go back to school after this vacation. BUT, we don’t have to let that loom over our well deserved time of rest!

We can PLAN NOW for a restful and work-free winter vacation so that our time off can be truly devoted to that – time off.

Here are a few things that you can do BEFORE vacation to help you to leave the work at work when that final bell rings this week:

  • Use your planning periods effectively
  • Plan for a day to come in early or stay late
  • Complete grading & planning for the week you return
  • Check emails and put an away message on for when you walk out the door. Commit to not looking at the school email over vacation.

Just like at the end of the marking period, we know this is coming and we CAN make sure that we are leaving time for ourselves and prioritizing that by how we use our time in these days leading up to our vacation.

Wishing you a vacation and a new year that’s merry & bright and full of fun, love & light!

Balanced Life Mentor for Educators

Hi, I’m Amy (she/her)! I consider myself a teacher and student every single day. I’ve been practicing yoga and mindfulness for many years and love weaving them into my work as a public school educator in Pennsylvania. I have a BS in Education of Spanish and a Masters in Education.

I’m also a certified yoga teacher (RYT-500) and Balanced Life Mentor. I feel strongly that yoga and mindfulness can benefit anyone at any stage of life and that the skills learned through these practices are especially important to teach to today’s youth. My goal is to cultivate a space of acceptance and comfort, offering the people I support permission to be themselves, trust themselves, and grow at their own pace.
