Hi, I’m Amy!
Balanced Living + Mindfulness ⤑ and mentoring educators in both are my jam.
So how can YOU create balance in your life, in and out of the classroom?
Well, to get us started, let me share a little of my backstory. Where I’ve been, and where I am now…
You see, I’ve been a teacher for over 20 years. And some of those years haven’t always been easy. (Can you relate?)
The learning curve for creating balance was sometimes high.
I wanted to be the BEST teacher ever for my students. You know, the teachers that students remember even after they’ve graduated because they made an impact.
But there were times that I was overwhelmed. Anxious. Tired. (Are you nodding your head in agreement?)
I couldn’t figure out how to balance my time as an educator. All too often, my evenings and weekends were spent on the computer or grading papers.
I knew I didn’t want to quit teaching.
Teaching is my passion! It’s at the core of who I am, and how I want to serve in the world.
Even before all of that yoga teacher training, I started practicing mindfulness and trained with Mindful Schools, learning how to incorporate mindful living into not only my personal life, but also my classroom and my work with colleagues.
It has been a game changer!
As a teacher, I know how hard it can be to find even a few minutes of time to pause and regroup, much less try to find the time or money for extravagant self-care activities.
Living a balanced life has helped me so much that I then realized that I wanted to share what I’ve learned with educators and schools around the country. And that’s how Balance for Educators was founded.
To support all individuals involved in education so that they can find the passion and purpose they had when they first started teaching. And bring balance into their classrooms and their personal lives.
Why I love doing this…
The positive impact it has on educators
The way that impact moves into the classroom and affects students
The way that effect makes its way throughout the entire school
The ripple it creates out into everyone’s lives and into the world
Now, you may be asking… but what if I’m not into yoga?
That’s okay. That’s what has helped me, but that’s not what balanced living is about.
We’ll figure out together what works for YOU.
What tools and resources YOU need to incorporate to help you live your best life.
So that you have the energy and motivation to show up every day for your students, your colleagues, and your loved ones. And most importantly, yourself.
To be able to do all the things you want to do…
→ Be the best educator you can be
→ Pursue outside interests and hobbies
→ Make time for family and friends
→ Make time for yourself
And do so in a way that is BALANCED. Where you feel ease when you walk into your classroom at the start of the day and ease when you close the door behind you to head home.
I know this is possible. I’ve done it!
And you can too.
Remember, balance most definitely shifts and changes. It varies from day to day and from person to person.
