Educators! As we kick off the 2024/2025 school year, I wanted to share with you nine fun ways to keep that feeling of summer with you.
Tip 1: Mornings
The weather will still be good for the next few weeks before the Autumn chill begins to slowly creep in. So choose to begin your day enjoying your favorite morning beverage outside. Soak up the sunshine and enjoy a moment of peace before the school day begins. This simple habit will not only help you begin your day more mindfully but also help you hold onto the summer vibe, even if it’s just for 10 minutes.
Tip 2: Meals
Just because we’re back to school doesn’t mean the flavors of summer have to end. Healthy, fresh and easy-to-prep lunches will keep the summertime vibes flowing as we kick off this new school year. Fruit salads, cold pasta salads, or a smoothie bowl can be such a treat during your busy day and bring a little more ease into your school day.
And let’s not forget summer treats! Indulge once a week with something summery like a cold minty lemonade, iced coffee, or your favorite ice cream. What’s your go-to summer treat?
Tip 3: Fresh Air
Feeling overwhelmed and rushed as you head back to school? A little fresh air can make a world of difference. Make time for an after-school walk and soak up the last rays of summer! You might be diving back into your school routine, but remembering to get outside and take a walk, even if it’s just around the block, can help you unwind, clear your mind, and even get a little dose of Vitamin D. How do you destress after a long and busy day?
Tip 4: Desktop Reminders
Bring the beach vibes to your desk! A mini tropical plant, an image of the beach on your wall or more discreetly a beach themed screensaver on your computer can brighten up your workspace and keep you feeling those relaxing summer vibes all year long. Creating a joyful environment at work can boost your mood and remind you of those long summer days. How have you decorated your space for the new school year?
Tip 5: Get Outside
Just because we’re back at school doesn’t mean the adventures have to end! Catch a sunset, go for a quick hike… plan small after-school and weekend adventures that keep you in that summer mindset. A little escape can be a perfect reset after a long day or week of teaching. Where’s your favorite spot? What’s a quick roadtrip you can take to get away and let go?And just in case you’re thinking… “How can I do that if I’m bringing work home with me…

Tip 6: Summertime Playlist
Keep the summer vibes going with your favorite playlist! Whether you’re commuting, setting up your classroom, or needing to decompress after a long day, having an uplifting and fun playlist can keep you motivated and energized. What’s on your playlist right now?
Tip 7: Books
Set aside a few minutes each day and dive into a good book—especially one that reminds you of carefree summer days. Even if it’s just 15 minutes, those moments of escapism can bring a little reminder of summer into your everyday routine. What’s on your reading list right now?
Tip 8: Take advantage of the longer, lighter days.
Winter and the end of daylight savings are coming but for now, we still have longer days to enjoy. Take advantage of every moment before the sun sets. We’re cooped up most days inside so while it’s still light out when we end our day, why not enjoy dinner out on the patio with friends?
Tip 9: Self-Support
Keep the glow of summer alive! Treat yourself weekly to a face mask, indulge in your favorite body scrub, or spend extra time outdoors soaking up the sunshine. Self-care doesn’t have to end just because school has started—those little moments of pampering can help you carry the summer vibes through the busy school days. What is one thing you can do today that is just for YOU?
